Encouraging and supporting singers to pursue their passion, while developing function, confidence, and musicianship skills needed to achieve success.
For 25 years I have been helping my students reach their goals, while nurturing their passion, confidence and love for singing- as well as themselves. I believe that each student deserves encouragement, but most importantly, attention and accommodation to their own unique learning style. My philosophy as a voice teacher is to be mindful and aware, while guiding my students with positivity. I believe a teacher can be all of these things, while keeping their students engaged and accountable on their journey to success!
Encouraging a singer to establish good vocal function will help them realize their style of singing and find success. We will build a healthy foundation through exercises that address breath management, tone, proper vowel production, strengthening and balancing vocal registers. I will guide you through mastering the audition process, the interpretaion of your repertoire, performance and delivery. We will work toward the application of these concepts to your repertoire as we build your "book". Together, we will discover the styles of singing that you enjoy most and compliment your voice. We will develop and explore productive and efficient ways to practice, knowledge of vocal health and anatomy, as well as the discovery process in which you will learn to choose repertoire exemplifying your strengths as a singer. I teach students who sing in all styles that range from the ages from 8 to adults. I work with many students who are well advanced in their vocal studies, however, I also have a background in music education. This helps me to connect with my younger students and bridge any gaps in their music education. I truly do feel it makes me a good fit for young singers. Many of my students continue their education in vocal performance, music education, or musical theater. I have students that have moved on to work professionally, and some that are also recreational singers who enjoy discovering more about their voice and themselves through the process of singing lessons.
